When I first started tarot it was with this deck but had lost my original years ago. Since then have gotten other decks I've been happy with. This deck is definitely a good buy! The cards are a perfect thickness and great quality. The pictures are vibrant and beautiful the way I remember. The only issue I had with this deck was oddly the 4 of pentacles looked as if someone was eating or drinking and smudged something on the card and then put it back in the deck. The deck was sealed when I got it and seemed new and none of the other cards had that issue. I cleaned it easily and I'm going to cleanse the cards. ?I'm still extremely happy with the deck though!
Ita's really sad when you like a knock-off better than whata's supposed to be the real deal. ?But if nothing else, the colors on this deck are far superior to the most recent U.S. Games version of the RWS deck. ?There are no scribbled-looking cross-hatchings or newsprint effects, and the flesh tones avoid looking aggressively orange, and are consistent throughout the deck. ?Ita's not my favorite among the various color phases of the RWS a' thata's still the muted Smith Anniversary/Centennial version. ?But Ia'm definitely keeping the deck, while I returned the a'officiala' one.
I was skeptical at first with the manual so small its size as big as the card itself but ita's a pack full of info, and easy to read even with my old eyes. It is actually good to carry around, easy access because it fits in a card box. Illustration of the cards is vibrant, crisp, and detailed. The texture of the cards give a nice feeling in the hands. Coating gives shine and protection. The cards are neither too thick nor too thin. took off a star because the manual only provides 1 type of spread (how to lay cards) which is not enough in my opinion.
Very nicely done. ?This is based on the original Waite - Pamela Colman Smith deck. ?The line drawing are clearly replicated and the coloring is tastefully done. ?The deck comes with a booklet based on Waite's original text that accompanies the Rider-Waite-Smith deck. ?There are 78 cards but not end cards. ?I prefer decks with two end cards to protect the 78 tarots. ?The card stock is good. ?I just ordered this a few days ago through amazon and it was $3 cheaper, so the price seems to be escalating which is why I gave it only 4 instead of 5 stars.
The cards, while beautiful and well-made, with a delightful playing card style texture and heft to them, have suffered slightly from the digitization process. While the colors are still vibrant, the vector style doesna't lend itself perfectly to a one to one replication of the late Pamela Coleman Smitha's masterwork. Otherwise, this is a wonderful deck that I would recommend to any tarot enthusiast interested in keeping for themselves a set of the classics.
I like the energy and look of the cards but somehow I ended up with TWO OF EACH CARD. In total I have 80 cards with NO SWORD or CUP CARDS. Ia'm MISSING more than half of the PENTACLES. I only have The Ace of Pentacles, II, III, & IV. I just ordered a replacement that comes on Friday. Hopefully those will be correct. UPDATE: I received a correct deck and I love them. I feel like they are great for a beginner tarot reader.
